Gertrude Kidwell, 94, of Midland, passed away Monday, July 16, 2012. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Thursday, July 19, 2012, at the funeral home. Memorial services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Friday, July 20, 2012, at the First Baptist Church, with Rev. David Johnson, officiating. Gertrude was born September 26, 1917, in Dermott, Texas, to Mae (Vincent) and Richard Brown. She married William Milton Kidwell on August 13, 1938, in Midland. He preceded Gertrude in death in 1995. She was also preceded in death by her parents, a sister, Mozelle Brown Boren and a brother, James R. Brown. Gertrude was a manager for S&H Green Stamps for 20 years of her 27-year career with them. She was a charter member of Wilshire Park Baptist Church. She became a member at First Baptist Church in 1990 and was involved with DMA and the Samuel department. Gertrude was also an active bridge player at the Midland Senior Center. Survivors include son and daughter-in-law, Don and Sallie Kidwell of Midland; grandchildren, Scott and Lisa Kidwell of Midland, Kristen and David Lawler of Edmond, OK, and Amy and Banaise Blake of Midland; brother, Leroy Brown of Snyder; and great grandchildren, McKenzie Kidwell, Macy Kidwell, Lauren Lawler, Lindsey Lawler, Lexie Lawler, Samuel Blake, Sawyer Blake, and Sterling Blake. The family suggests memorials be made to "Arise & Build" of First Baptist Church, 2104 W. Louisiana Ave., Midland, TX 79701 or Hospice Midland, P.O. Box 2621, Midland, TX 79702. The family would like to thank her many caregivers at Manor Park. A special thank you to her companion, Bennie Morrison.
