Glenn Gordon "Sarge" Strickland, 84, passed on Tuesday, March 10, 2015 in Midland. He was born on May 8, 1930 to Charles and Irma Strickland in Pembrook, Georgia. He is survived by his wife, Patricia Strickland; daughters, Miriam Pugh, Cheryl Howard Sparks, and Tracy Sparks; granddaughter, Mindee Clark and her husband Matt; two grandsons, Jeremy Allen and his wife Amy, and Charles Sparks; three great grandchildren, Michael, Madison, and Rylan; and by a sister, Lucy Strickland Williamson of Georgia. He is preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Irma Strickland; his brother, Charles L. Strickland; his half-brother, W.B. Bacon; a sister, Ouida Proctor; and by a half-sister, Daisy Bacon Patrick. Glenn loved his family with all his heart and never walked into a room without making long-time friends. He was loved by everyone. In 1981, he and his co-partner moved their Strickland & Knight Equipment Co. to Big Spring, building bridges and roads in Texas. When he retired, he and his family moved to Statesboro, Georgia. Five years later, they moved back to Texas and he went to work for Price Construction. He then retired again, 10 years ago. He loved fishing and hunting and he was our beloved hero. Services are under the direction of Christ Church Midland, 5501 N. Midkiff, Midland, TX 79705. Services will be on Thursday, March 19, 2015 at 1:00 p.m. at the church, then going to the columbarium. A reception will be held afterward. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Christ Church Midland or Hospice of Midland.
