John Stout Obituary

John Wayne Stout, Jr., 60, passed away in Midland, Texas on Saturday, September 26, 2015. John was born in Pasadena, Texas on January 5, 1955 to his mother and father, Beverly and Johnny Wayne Stout, Sr. Most of his young life was spent in Kermit, Texas. He attended Kermit High School and went on to play football for Texas Tech University. He later graduated from UTPB with a Bachelor of Art degree in Business Accounting. John owned and operated John Stout, Jr. Construction for over 20 years. John was a unique and charismatic individual who had a passion for sports and a love for coaching his sons though GMFL football. He also coached a semi-pro football team, the Midland Colts. He always made an impression on everyone he met; he never met a stranger; and no one left without a quick-witted nickname. John loved spending time with his brothers at sporting events and riding motorcycles. John's passion for art was evident throughout his successful career of architecture and design. He loved to show his talents through drawings. John is survived by his wife, Rachael Stout of Midland; his mother, Beverly Ann Stout of Midland; his son, Cole and wife, Ashley Stout of Austin, Texas; his son, Trent and wife, Amanda Stout of San Antonio, Texas; his daughter, Monica Booth of Midland; his grandchildren, Jack Stout, Annslee Stout, Kennedi Stout, Hollis Stout, and Wright Stout; his brother, Russell Stout and wife, Linda, of San Antonio; his brother, Don Stout and wife, Melinda, of Midland; his sister, Diann and husband, Ray Aaron of Midland; his nieces and nephews, Adrian and Lexie Gunder and their daughter, Alexis of Dallas, Texas; Emory and Briley Stout of Midland; Molly and Bailey Roberts of Midland; and Samantha of Seattle, Washingotn; Uncle Donald and Aunt Patty Adams of Houston, Texas and their daughter Debbie; Uncle Horace and Aunt Martha O'Neal of Birmingham, Alabama and their children Adam and Mark; and last, but not least, his beloved dog, Puddin. He is preceded in death by his father, Johnny Wayne Stout, Sr. There will be a visitation on Tuesday evening at Ellis Funeral Home from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. A memorial Service will be held for John Stout on Wednesday, September 30, 2015 at Ellis Funeral Home at 11:00 a.m., with burial to follow at Resthaven Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Don Stout, Russell Stout, Cole Stout, Trent Stout, Tom Becker, and Elvin Brown. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in his honor to the Wounded Warriors Project, P.O. Box 758517, Topeka, KS 66675, or to the Lone Star Sanctuary for Animals, P.O. Box 50426, Midland, TX 79710. Online condolences may be offered at www.ellisfunerals.com.

Sorry to hear about John. John and I played football against each other in high school and with each other in college. I remember John running a block punt in for a touchdown against Houston our freshman year, which won the game. I wish I had kept in touch but life got in the way for us both.

John, tell God to ignore the big dust cloud...it's just you scoring the winning TD. Good times and not so good times were stitched together as we competed from an early age (Firebugs were just about unbeatable), then together in Jr. High and High School...you were a fierce competitor, a great friend and greater person.
Wish I could give your great family a group hug and make all the sadness disappear, but God is the One to do that.
We will miss you Big John,
May God Bless your Family and ease their pains and sorrows,
With my most sincere condolences,
Gary Wayne Shaver (KHS class '73)

Rachel,
I am so very sorry to hear about your loss. I never got to meet John but I know he had to be a great man because your mother had nothing but good things to say about him.
You and Monica as well as the rest of your family are in my thoughts and prayers. If you need anything at all do not hesitate to ask.
May God give you strength to get through the next few months ahead, lean on your family and above all, keep your faith in God and you will be fine.
All my love,
