Somerville Johnna Lynn Somerville, 49, of Midland, graduated with highest honors from this life August 6, 2014 following a bold and spirited fight against NF2 (Neurofibromatosis Type II). The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Monday, August 11, 2014 at the funeral home. Memorial services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, August 12, 2014 at Nalley-Pickle & Welch Chapel in Midland, with Chaplain Robert Kirk, officiating. She was born May 6, 1965, in Ritzville, Washington to John and Lynn Somerville. Johnna's unique sense of humor gave her the ability to overcome any obstacle NF2 put in her life and her amazing, steadfast faith was a testimony to us all. "Free Falling" was her motto, knowing that Jesus would be there to catch her. Without doubt, she is dancing and singing with the angels. Johnna graduated from Robert E. Lee High School and went on to pursue her BA in Sociology at UTPB. She was employed at Unocal/Spirit Energy from 1986 to 1995 as production analyst. She briefly left there to complete her sociology degree and returned to Spirit Energy/Pure Resources in 1998, retiring in 2003. Johnna enjoyed traveling to NF conferences and gatherings in Ohio, Las Vegas, Canada, Australia and West Virginia. She was preceded in death by her infant daughter, Jillian Alyssa White; mother, Lynn Somerville; sister, Vera Sue Jackson; and niece, Michaela Katzer. Johnna recently said that her bucket list was complete by having real girlfriends, Haylie, Lynn, Joanna, Shirley, and Bennie, just to name a few. She is survived by her father, John F. Somerville and wife Elaine; sisters, Nancy Imka and husband Tim, Sandy Kelly, Mary Nunez; Aunt Evelyn Parker; and numerous nieces and nephews, including god son Ryan Imka. She will be greatly missed by her angel and caregiver Haylie Urias. Special thanks to Veronica and Martha, Stef, Tina and the staff at Saddleridge. Thank you to Dr. John Slopis, Dr. Ian McCutcheon and the staff at MD Anderson; Lisa at the front desk and all the concierges at the Jesse James Rotary House; DJ, our faithful Houston driver; Dr. Odukwu and staff, Mary Dopico for always being there to type, listen, and be a friend, and Hospice of Midland.
