Juan Arras Gomez, 80, of Midland, passed away on May 22, 2015. A rosary will be held at 7:00pm on Wednesday, May 27, 2015 at Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home Chapel. Services will be at 10:00 am Thursday, May 28, 2015 at San Miguel (Saint Michael) Archangel Catholic Church of Midland with burial following at 2:00pm at Toyah Cemetery in Toyah, Texas.
Juan A. Gomez was born November 24, 1934 in Banderas, Chihuahua, Mexico to Jose F. Gomez and Jenoveva Arras Gomez. He became a naturalized citizen as a young man and he moved to Kent, TX where he began to work for Union Pacific Railroad in 1955. He later met his beloved wife, Virginia Machuca Gomez and they were married on April 3, 1957 in Pecos, TX. A year and a half after they were married, they moved to Midland and had their children. He was involved in his church choir, loved playing his guitar, and he loved sports so much that he organized a baseball team. He loved to watch his grandkids play baseball, softball, and any other sport.
He is survived by his wife, Virginia Machuca Gomez; son, Juan M. Gomez Jr.; daughter, Grabiela Gomez Mireles; son, Rene M. Gomez; daughter, Eloise M. Gomez; daughter, Martha Machuca Gomez; daughter, Ufemia G. Rodriguez; daughter, Jessica Gomez Macias; a very dear friend and caretaker, Luz Maria G. Salazar; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Jose and Jenoveva Arras Gomez.
The family would like to express their gratitude towards his Doctor, Rosanna Catalasan, and his caretaker, Luz Maria G. Salazar.
