Manuel V. Romero, 86 of Midland, went home to be with his Heavenly Father on November 23, 2013 at Midland Memorial Hospital. He was born on June 30, 1927 in Balmorhea, Texas to the late Alberto and Timotea Romero. Manuel was raised in El Barranco, Chihuahua Mexico; later moving to the United States where he entered the Armed Forces. He served in the Army and the Korean War. After his discharge, he moved to Midland. Manuel married the late Alicia Montanez and they had a beautiful fruitful life together. Upon her death, he married Aurora Saenz and continued his beautiful life. Manuel liked to tinker with cars and loved being a mechanic. When he was younger he would go hunting and enjoyed watching western movies. He was also a fan of wrestling. Manuel finished his life with his companion Leonor playing domino's and cards with family and friends. Manuel was preceded in death by his parents; his sons, Manuel Romero Jr and Benjamin Romero and his sisters, Marcela Rivas and Gonzala Mendoza. He is survived by his companion, Leonor Gallegos of Midland; sons, Ruben Romero, Ismael Romero, and Ramon Quintana all of Midland; daughters, Elfida Ronquillo of Santa Elena, Chihuahua MX, Grace R. Ramirez of Midland, Oralia Oropeza of Greenville, TX, Sylvia Romero of Commerce, TX, Estela Ramirez of Midland, Alicia Mena of Midland, Ida Romero of Kyle, TX and Yolanda Costillo of Midland. He is also survived by his sisters, Paula Tejerina of Midland and Patricia Romero of Lansing, Michigan; his brothers, Fermin Romero, Isa Romero, Domingo Romero and Jose Romero all of Midland; thirty-five grandchildren, fifty-eight great grandchildren, thirty-five great-great grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. A funeral mass is set for today at 1:00 pm at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Fairview Cemetery Funeral mass is entrusted to the direction of Heavenly Gate Funeral Home.
