Maria Catarina Subia Granado entered the gates of heaven on July 28, 2014, in Midland, Texas, at the age of 47. After being told that she had three months to live she fought a courageous year and two months battling with stage 4 carcinoid cancer. She leaves behind her daughters, Jessica and Monik Payan; her son, Aaron Julian Payan; along with her three grandchildren, Alyssa Jacobo, Gabriel Payan and Jayden Jacobo. Maria was born on April 13, 1967, in Midland, Texas, to father Raul T. Granado and mother Vicenta Subia Granado. She grew up in a large family with three sisters; Yolanda Rodriguez, Aurora Granado, Diana Reyes and three brothers; Joe, Rudy, and Cristobas Granado and numerous nieces and nephews. Maria was known for sharing her gift of singing at various congregations. In 2001 she recorded her Christian cd and would sing for Midland Para Cristo. She inspired a lot of people around her with her sweet smile and caring positive personality. She had a heart of gold and nothing was impossible in her eyes. When diagnosed with stage 4 carcinoid cancer in 2013, she held her head up high and smiled through it all. She remained dedicated to her family and in her will to fight her illness. She remained strong and brave even throughout her final months. Viewing will be Thursday, July 31, 2014, 11:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. with a service at Amistad Cristiana 401 S Main St, Midland, Texas, 79701 at 7:00 p.m. with pastor Martin Ortega. Service will be Friday, August 1, 2014, at 10:00 a.m. with pastor Heriberto Sierra following the burial.
