Mariano Diaz Rendon, Sr., 71, of Midland, Texas, passed away on July 26, 2014. He was born on January 11, 1943. Mariano Diaz Rendon, Sr. and Maria Amelia Padilla Rendon are the founders of the Midland Soup Kitchen Ministry. Mariano was preceded in death by Maria Amelia Padilla Rendon, his first wife of 51 years, and by his daughter, Linda Rendon Olgin. Survivors include his second wife Martha Rendon; daughters, Diana and husband Benny Avila, Yolanda and husband Jaime Spencer, Nancy and husband Jason Ivy; and son, J.R. and wife Esmeralda Rendon. Mariano is also survived by 11 grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. Family welcomes friends for public visitation and viewing at Ellis Funeral Home on Wednesday, July 30, 2014 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, July 31, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at First Baptist Church of Midland, Texas, with Reverend Richard Spencer officiating.
