Roque "Rocky" Alvarado Arredondo, 73, of Lamesa, TX, passed away peacefully on Thursday, August 23, 2012. Viewing will start on Saturday, August 25th from 10:00 am to 9:00 pm and Sunday, August 26th from 10:00 am to 9:00pm, a rosary service will be held at 7 p.m. at Lewallen-Garcia-Pipkin Funeral Home, 2508 N. Big Spring St., Midland TX. Services in Lamesa on Monday, August 27th are as follows: viewing will be held on Monday from 10:00 am to noon followed by a rosary at 1:00pm then funeral mass at 2:00 pm at St. Margaret Mary's Catholic Church with Father Joseph Kurumbel officiating. Ceremonial dinner to follow in the church hall with the family. Roque began farming when he was 14, and became the top hand at the E-bar gin. Roque learned to manage and supervise the farmers, and was exceptional at making repairs on farm equipment. He was a faithful fan to the Dallas Cowboys, Klondike Cougars, and Lucha Libre. An avid dancer, Roque danced his way into Margaret's heart. They danced for over 53 years. Roque dedicated his free time in giving back to the church and community by serving in the Knights of Columbus, Men's Organization and the Lions Club. His motto was to forgive, love life, and laugh every day. Survivors include his wife, Margaret Arredondo of Lamesa TX, son, Roque Arredondo, Jr. of Lamesa TX, 7 daughters, Sylvia Garnica of Greenwood TX, Sally Cruz of Midland TX, Lorrie Pelliccia of Seoul S. Korea, Sandra Carnero of Midland TX, Mary Elizabeth Blackmon of Temple TX, Margie Blair of Phoenix AZ, and Paula Vela of Lamesa TX, 3 sisters, Chris Garcia of Lamesa TX, Eloisa Garcia of Kress TX, Emma Reyna of San Angelo TX, 20 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. Roque was preceded in death by his son, Ralph Arredondo, 2 brothers, Joe Garcia and Manuel Arredondo, Sr., 2 sisters, Mary Sue Diaz and Betty Salinas, step-father, Seferino Garcia, his mother Trinidad Garcia and his adopted parents, Florencio and Maria Magdalena Arredondo.
