Samuel C. Terry quietly passed away in his sleep early Sunday morning, in Houston, after a long battle with Alzheimer's disease. Born in Seguin in 1924, he is survived by his brother, T.H. Terry; his sister, Lanetta Culberson; his son, Sam Jr.; daughter-in-law, Claire; grandchildren, Ryan Terry and Lindsey Bird; and great-grandsons, Henry and Elliott. He is predeceased by his parents; his beloved wife of over 50 years, Frances; and his sister, Maydell. Sam spent his early years in Seguin, where he met and married Frances and found the other great love of his life - golf. He attended Texas A&M, then served in the Air Force in WW II, after which he completed his education at University of Texas, graduating with a degree in geology. Most of his career was spent as a landman at Union Oil of California, first in Louisiana, then in Midland, which was his home from 1962 until 2008. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 16, 2012, at St. Luke's United Methodist Church, Midland. Arrangements are under the direction of Ellis Funeral Home.
