A memorial service will be held for Shirley Hoskins, 70, of Roswell, NM, at 1:30 p.m., Wednesday, August 22, 2012, at Anderson-Bethany Funeral Home Chapel, with Vista Care Hospice's Garth Hyde officiating. She passed away Saturday, August 18, 2012. Shirley was born on November 29, 1941, to Charles and Ruth (McWright) Brown in Winters, TX. As a child she roamed the West Texas desert and ran with the tumbleweeds. She graduated from Kermit High School in 1959 and was proud to be a Yellow Jacket. She then proceeded to become a world traveler with her husband and four small children. She settled in Midland, TX, in 1976 and continued to care for her family. She moved to Roswell, NM in 2011, to be closer to her son, Royce Hoskins and grandchildren. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and loved watching Tom Selleck movies. She is now dancing and singing in heaven with the angels of her loved ones and will be missed by those who loved her deeply. Those left to cherish her memory are her son, Royce Hoskins and his wife, Amber of Roswell; her daughter, Leslie Barnes and her husband, Karl of Midland, TX; her daughter, Diana Hoskins of Willis, TX; her brother, Don Bates of Haughton, LA; her sister, Patsy Willard of Jasper, TX; her grandsons, Jeremy Hoskins, Tyler Hoskins and Bryce Hoskins; her granddaughters, Melissa Ketter, Michel Ketter, and Lauren Barnes; her nephew, Ryan Joe Bates and his wife, Lisa; her great niece, Ryleigh Bates; special friend, Tessie Wyrick, for taking care of her after she moved to Roswell. The family would like to thank aunt, Welda Bates and her nephew, Ryan Joe Bates for taking care of her before moving to Roswell from Midland. Honorary pallbearers will be her brother, Don Bates and her grandsons, Tyler, Bryce, and Jeremy Hoskins. Preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Ruth Brown and her daughter, Debra Hoskins.
