Kenneth Wayne Evers, 79, of Midland went to be with his Lord on Saturday, March 15, 2014. A visitation will be held celebrating his life on Tuesday, March 18, 2014 from 5:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. at Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at First Christian Church of Midland on Wednesday, March 19, 2014 at 2:00 p.m., with Reverend Mike Hunter officiating. A private family burial will be held at Sunset Memorial Park at an undisclosed time. Kenneth was born on November 8, 1934 to Myrtie and Brithel Evers in Odessa, Texas. He graduated from Odessa High School in 1953 and went on to Texas Tech, where he graduated with his bachelors in Industrial Engineering in 1959. He married Twana Boyce on June 13, 1956 in Odessa, Texas. Kenneth worked for Drilco Industrial for over 17 years as Manufacturing Manager. He founded Cerbide Industrial, which he operated for nine years before retiring. Kenneth has been a member of First Christian Church since 1954, where he served as an Elder and on numerous committees. He was a 50-year member of the Masonic Lodge. He was a member of the Industrial Engineering Society and served on the board of the Disciples Village in Odessa. Kenneth was strong willed, quiet, kind, loyal, and very loving. He enjoyed playing golf and spending time with his friends, family, and most of all being Poppy to his four grandchildren. Kenneth was preceded in death by his parents, Brithel and Myrtie Evers, his sister, Dorcas Evers Pratt, and his brother-in-law, Cecil Boyce. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Twana Evers; daughters, Lisa Kilborn and Kristi (Curtis) Pechacek; grandchildren, Zachary (Shawna) Kilborn, Hunter Kilborn, Brittney Gordon, and Courtney Gordon; sisters-in-law Twylah (Don ) Moore and Shirley Boyce; niece, Carolyn Pratt; nephew, Galan Pratt; and many friends who loved and respected him and will miss him greatly. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be donated to the Next Step Building Fund at First Christian Church, 1301 W. Louisiana Ave, Midland, Texas, 79701.
