Obed O. Montes, 68, of Midland, met his Heavenly Father on March 31, 2014. He was born to Braulio and Eloisa Montes on April 9, 1945 in Ojinaga, Chihuahua, Mexico. On March 21, 1964, Obed married the love of his life, Yolanda and to this union was born four daughters and one son. Obed was a family man and delighted in being a husband, father and grandfather. He fulfilled each of his roles with loving generosity and protectiveness. He was the best grandpa to his grandchildren, known to them as "Pipito." Above all, Obed was a Christian, a true servant to God. His Catholic faith was very important to him and the source of his strength. For many years, he served his community in the Cursillo movement and many other parish functions. It is a treasured gift that he passed on to his children and grandchildren, one for which they will be eternally grateful. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him. He leaves behind a legacy for his family and friends to cherish and emulate. He is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Yolanda Montes of Midland; one son, Obed Montes; three daughters, Alicia Villanueva, Diana and her husband Juan Franco, and Veronica and her husband Sammy Morales, all of Midland; two brothers, Braulio Montes and Arturo Montes, both of Midland; two sisters, Aida Montes and Aurora M. Venegas, both of Mexico; 11 grandchildren; four great grandchildren; as well as many cherished nephews and nieces. He was preceded in death by his parents, Braulio and Eloisa Montes; his brother, Margarito Montes; his daughter, Veronica Montes; and granddaughter, Christian M. Villanueva. A rosary will be held at San Miquel Catholic Church at 7:00 p.m. on April 2, 2014. Funeral Service will be held on April 3, 2014, 10:00 a.m. at San Miquel Catholic Church, with Father Bernard officiating. Interment to follow at Resthaven Memorial Park. All arrangements are entrusted to American Heritage Cemetery and Funeral Home.
