Bill Reed, 86, of Midland, went to be with our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on April 28, 2014. Visitation will be held on Wednesday evening, April 30, 2014, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home. Graveside services will be held at Resthaven Memorial Park on Thursday, May 1, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. Rev. Larry L. Long of Fellowship Community Church (C&MA) will officiate. Bill was born on September 19, 1927, to C.D. and Ethia Travis Reed in Cannon County, Tennessee, where he was raised. He was the youngest of five siblings. He was saved as a child and baptized in a horse trough. He grew up poor but ambitious, which first became apparent when he became president of his high school class. His goal in life was to make sure he could provide for his family and always drive nice cars, wear nice clothes, and not work so hard on the farm. He was a corporal in the United States Army, serving in Korea as a cook during the war. After the war, he became a Life Insurance salesman in Tennessee, Abilene, Benbrook, and Midland, Texas. After moving to Midland, Bill started a new career as a car salesman. He worked for Broncho Chevrolet in Odessa for over 20 years, where his coworkers pegged him a hillbilly until he became the sales-leader. In his spare time, he loved to whittle and cheer for the Dallas Cowboys (nobody's perfect). Upon entering his later years, he renewed his commitment to the Lord and to His church. He faithfully attended Stonegate Fellowship Church. Bill is survived by his sons, Paul Reed, and Paul's son, Cody Dylan Reed, and by Phillip Reed and his wife, Cindy. He was preceded in death by the love of his life and greatest accomplishment, his wife, Betty Reed, and all his siblings. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations be sent to the , 4400 N. Big Spring, Ste. 32, Midland, Texas, 79705. Arrangements are under the direction of Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home & Crematory of Midland. Online condolences may be made at
