Willa Dean Jennings, 81, of Midland passed away on Saturday, May 3, 2014, at her home. A visitation will be held at Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home on Wednesday, May 7, 2014 from 7:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, May 8, 2014 at Nalley-Pickle & Welch Chapel, with Chaplain Robert Kirk officiating. Interment will follow at Resthaven Memorial Park in Midland. Willa was born on December 15, 1932 to Thelma and Hugh Groom in Morrilton, Arkansas. She married C.H. "Jr." Jennings on January 18, 1951 in Texarkana, Arkansas. They moved to Midland with their young family in 1962. Willa became a working mom with JC Penney in the old downtown location and later joined Midland County as an Auditor before retiring in January of 1996, after 18 years of service. She was a member of St. Paul United Methodist Church. She is survived by her daughter, Kathy Lee and husband Hal of Midland, Texas; son, Larry Jennings and wife Susan of San Antonio, Texas; sister, Maxine Hall of Leechburg, Pennsylvania; sister-in-law, Lynda Groom of De Kalb, Texas; grandchildren, Casey Lee and wife Natalie, Chris Lee and wife Amber, Elizabeth Cheslock and husband Todd, Scott Jennings and wife Liz, Rebecca Hart and husband Patrick; and five great-grandchildren, Ashton, Reese, Eli, Jackson, and Charlie. She was preceded in death by her husband, C.H. "Jr." Jennings; parents, Thelma and Hugh Groom; and seven brothers, Bill, Orville, Wayne, Mitchell, Marlin, Donnie, and Bruce Groom. Memorials may be donated to Hospice Midland, P.O. Box 2621, Midland, Texas, 79702 or to St. Paul United Methodist Church, 4501 Thomason Drive, Midland, Texas, 79703.
