Shelton Ezell Virginia Ann Shelton Ezell, 74, of Belton, TX, died at 4:35 pm, Tuesday, May 13, 2014 at Scott & White Hospital in Temple, TX. She was born August 25, 1939 in Goldthwaite, TX to Marie and Ernest Shelton. She married Freddie Ardis Ezell on October 1, 1960 and he survives. Also surviving are her, son, Eric Ezell of San Antonio and his spouse Dawn Luck Ezell, one daughter Carla Ezell Bourland of Belton and her spouse Ronny Bourland; four granddaughters Adrianna & Ashton Ezell of San Antonio and Marin & Brinley Bourland of Belton; and brother, Ernie Shelton of Granbury. Her mother, father, and one sister preceded her in death. She also lost a daughter, Elizabeth, shortly after birth in October 1961. Virginia was very active in the local PTA while her children attended public school in Midland but spent the majority of her life serving the softball community with her husband, both locally and nationwide. In November of 2008, Virginia and Freddie were inducted into the National Softball Hall of Fame in Oklahoma City, an honor which had previously only been awarded to one other married couple. Virginia was a resident of Midland for 57 years and had recently relocated to Belton, TX to be closer to her grandchildren. Her husband and she were long time members of Crestview Baptist Church in Midland. The visitation is from 3 PM to 5PM on Sunday, May 18, 2014 at the Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home. The funeral service will be on Monday, May 19, 2014 at 1:00 PM at Crestview Baptist Church in Midland. Pastor John Gerlach will be officiating. The burial will be at the Resthaven Memorial Park in Midland. Memorial contributions may be made to Midland United Girls Softball, P.O. Box 10574, Midland, TX 79702.
