Israel Luna, Jr., 54, of Midland, passed away in his home surrounded by his family, under the care of Home Hospice on May 20, 2014. He was born to Israel Luna, Sr. and the late Nifa Luna on June 10, 1959, in Knox City, TX. Israel Luna Jr. was an amazing man with a big heart. He proudly and honorably served our Country, serving eight years in the U.S. Navy and four years in the U.S. Army. He was a very hardworking, honest man who was loved and adored by all. He loved his family so much; he personally gave all of his nieces and nephew's nicknames so all would feel special, and indeed they all held a special place in his heart. He always took care of his family first before himself making him a very humble man, a great husband, and a loving father. He is survived by his wife, Maria E. Luna of Midland; daughter, Nicolett Luna Flake of Abilene; father, Israel Luna, Sr. of Midland; brothers, Robert and David Luna both of Midland; sisters, Elvira Luna and Marisol Salas both of Midland; numerous nieces, nephews, and other family members. Viewing was held on Thursday, May 22, 2014, from 12:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and a rosary was held from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at American Heritage Chapel. Services will be held on Friday, May 23, 2014, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Stephens Catholic Church with Monsignor Bridges officiating. Interment with military honors immediately following at American Heritage Cemetery. All arrangements are entrusted to American Heritage Cemetery and Funeral Home.
