Bobbie Helen Stamps of Midland has quietly gone to be with her Savior on Sunday July 13, 2014. She was born in Carrizo Springs, Texas to Herbert and Minnie Turner on February 28, 1936. She played many sports in high school and lettered in basketball for three years and went to state two years. She was also captain of the volleyball team. Bobbie went on to become a hairstylist for 40 years and owned her own salon for 16 years. She was a member of the Business and Professional Women for 10 years and was District Director for District 8 from 1981-1982. After she retired, she enjoyed going to the Senior Center to play 42 with the members where she became the activities leader and instructor of the 42 department. She was a wonderful volunteer in many things all of her life with anything anyone ever asked of her. She was preceded in death by her parents, a sister, a brother, two husbands, Buford Chesney and Willie Stamps, and her wonderful loving son, Jim Doherty. She is survived by her brother, Gene Turner of the Dallas area; a daughter, Sheree King and her husband Mike of Houston; her son, Dennis Doherty and his wife Terrie of Woodstock, Georgia; three grandchildren, five great grandchildren, one great great-grandchild, many cousins, nieces, nephews and her wonderful close friend Bob Hughes. The family would like to thank Hospice of Midland for their support and care of our mother during her final days. Visitation will be held Wednesday July 16, 2014 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Ellis Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held at Ellis Funeral Home Chapel Thursday July 17, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Resthaven Memorial Park.
