Corbie D. Friday, 88, of Las Colinas, Texas, passed away July 30, 2014, surrounded by his family. Corbie was born in Canton, Texas, on April 20, 1926, to Dora Reese and Floyd Friday. Corbie married Erma Myers on March 31, 1949; they were married forty-seven years prior to her death. Corbie was reunited with his high school sweetheart Paula and they were married for sixteen years until his death. Corbie was a Midland Firefighter for thirty-three years. Corbie attended Midland High School and Midland College, he taught fire science at Midland College. Corbie received a Bronze Star during World War II, and he operated Friday's Boot Shop for a number of years in downtown Midland, Texas. Corbie is survived by his wife Paula; sister, Lilean Kinsey of Midland, Texas; son, Thomas Friday and wife Lavonya of Austin, Texas; daughter, Vickie Van Ness, McKinney; seven stepchildren, Karen Rosenthal, Kathy Hazard, Kelly Hazard, Susie Hazard, Tammy Hazard, Scott Hazard, and David Hazard; three grandchildren, Corbie Allen Friday, David Friday, and Jessica Mintz; two great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; other family and friends. A visitation will be held from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 3, 2014, at Ellis Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday August 4, 2014, at Ellis Funeral Home Chapel, burial will follow at Resthaven Memorial Park Cemetery. Online condolences may be offered at
