Jennifer Riach Obituary

Jan 25, 2013

(née Cook, formerly Webber)

Our beloved Jennifer, in the words of Shakespeare, "shuffled off this mortal coil" on January 25, having succumbed with great reluctance to the leukemia she fought for the past year. Born in England, Jennifer studied theatre in London, and relocated to Newfoundland as a young wife to her first husband David Webber. She lived for many years in Edmonton and Toronto where she managed theatre programs, acted in TV, and performed with the greats of the Canadian stage. She founded Dramaworks, on the North Shore, where she shared her passion for Shakespeare and theatre with thousands of children.

Jennifer is survived by her son, Jason Webber, daughter-in-law, Paula and grandchildren Lauren, Mark, Corey, Becky and four great-grandchildren, her brothers, Bill and Gareth Cook and his partner Lisa, and numerous nieces and nephews in the UK. She is pre-deceased by her son Mark, parents Winifred and Frank, and sisters, Colleen and Jill.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, March 8, 2013, 3:00pm, Christchurch Cathedral at Georgia and Burrard in Vancouver. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Jennifer's memory to the Performing Arts Lodge, Vancouver, 300-518 Cardero Street, Vancouver, BC V6G 3L3.

Jennifer was gracious enough to perform in my 3rd year video play when I was in university. It just occurred to me to look her up today. I am deeply sorry to read of her passing. She was a talented and generous performer.
