Alexander, Helen (McRae)
Was born in July, 1924 in Weyburn, Saskatchewan and died February 19, 2015 in Richmond, BC. A beloved only child, Helen is predeceased by her parents Frances and James McRae. She cherished the memory of her father, who earned the DSO leading the South Saskatchewan Regiment back from Dieppe. She took loving daily care of her mother up until Frances' death in her hundredth year. Helen is also predeceased by her husband Ormond Blair (Alex) Alexander. They both grew up in Victoria, BC and married in 1946. After a short stint up the coast in Namu, they settled in Vancouver and later Richmond, their home from the mid-fifties. Helen and Alex had two sons, who miss them very much: Ian in Victoria (Marilyn Dalzell) and Ken in Richmond (Tracy Lakeman). Helen pursued a banking career from her earliest working years. She and a female colleague carried guns while transferring deposits during World War Two, but fortunately never had to use them! After the birth of her sons in the late 1950s, Helen returned to work with the Bank of Montreal, leading the CP Air "fly now pay later" group at Vancouver Airport Branch, and later working in branches at UBC, Dunbar and Main & Hastings, until her retirement at age 65. Helen was a dedicated volunteer on behalf of church and community causes. Her greatest loyalty was to the Anglican Church of Canada - first at St. Edward's, Bridgeport and later, for many years, at St. Alban in Richmond, where she served as organist, churchwarden and in numerous other capacities. Helen loved music, and studied at the Victoria Conservatory. She was a talented keyboard player, an enthusiastic supporter of young musicians and a generous mentor of young people in general. The family expresses deep gratitude to three special groups of people. One is the staff of Richmond Lions Manor. Helen got to know them first when her mother was living there, and returned herself as a welcome and cherished resident for most of the past decade. Thanks also to the skilled and hard-working staff at Richmond Hospital in Helen's final days, in Emergency, on 3 South, and in the Palliative Unit. Finally, we embrace the congregation of St. Alban Anglican Church, under the leadership of the Reverend Margaret Cornish. Their love and prayers have meant the world to Helen. You are invited to make a contribution to St. Alban (marked "In Memory of Helen Alexander"); this can be done conveniently online at www.canadahelps.org. Helen's funeral will take place at St. Alban, 7260 St. Albans Rd., on Saturday, February 28 at 2 pm, with a reception to follow in the parish hall. Helen Alexander was a loving daughter, mother and friend, with a warm heart, a ready smile, a quick hand to help, and a generous spirit; always patient, good-natured, and concerned for others. We thank God for her life, and pray for the repose of her immortal soul. Richmond Funeral Home Reception and Cremation Centre 604-273-3748

Attridge, Patricia
ATTRIDGE, Patricia July 10, 1948 - February 18, 2015 Patricia, 66, died peacefully at Peace Arch Hospital in White Rock, from complications from pneumonia. Pat was born July 10, 1948 in Richmond Hill, Ontario, the daughter of Joseph Orville Donnelly and Mary Rosella McIntaggart. Pat loved family and spending time with them at the cottage at Halls Lake in Ontario. Moving to British Columbia in 1999 with her husband Norm and daughter Kayla and creating such distance between herself and her family was challenging for Pat but she was supportive and positive in every way and helped us all create our new life in Surrey/ White Rock. Not long after arriving she began volunteering at Kayla's dance studio and soon became Office Manager of Joy of Movement and Visions Dance Co. There she met some wonderful people and helped shape the lives of many children and young adults that attended the studio. Pat was an avid reader, loved card and board games, and movies. She cheered loudly when her favourite won American Idol or the Voice and cried when they lost. She was the first in line for tickets to Skate Canada to applaud her favourites Kurt Browning and Elvis Stojko. She relished every opportunity she had to care for Cassidy, her granddaughter, while Kayla was attending University and working. Cassidy very much misses her Grandmother, as we all do. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at Victory Memorial Park Funeral Centre, 14831 28th Avenue in Surrey, on Friday, March 6th, 2015 at 1:00 pm. Condolences may be offered at www.victoryfuneralcentre.ca

Noon, Robert William (Bill) (In Memoriam)
In loving memory of our dear Dad/Grampy who passed away peacefully in his sleep, at 88 years of age, on February 6, 2014, at the Dover House Care Home in Nanaimo, BC where he received loving and compassionate care. Bill was born in London, England on May 24, 1925. While in the British Navy, his ship visited New Westminster, where he met the love of his live, Helen Sharbinin. They were married 3 months later on January 31, 1946 in Victoria, BC. They lived most of their married lives of 65 years in New Westminster. Bill worked at Fraser Mills in Coquitlam for 40 years, retiring in 1987. His favourite pastime was fishing … although he never ate the fish he caught. Their regular get-away was Point Roberts, WA. If they weren't at home, you could usually find them at "The Point". In 2002, Bill & Helen moved to Nanaimo to live their dream in a condo on the Nanaimo waterfront. There, "Granny & Grampy" enjoyed many happy years with their grandchildren and great grandchildren. Bill lost Helen, his true love and soul mate in October 2011. He is survived by his son Dan (Rita), his daughter Connie (in Calgary), 4 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. Bill was loved and respected by all who knew him. He is greatly missed.
