July 1932 – November 2012
Fred Clark left us peacefully with his family at his side on November 18th, 2012. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Joan, his sister Dorothy, and his four children Lisa, Peter, Paul, and Lael and their spouses as well as a large extended family and long time friends. Fred was the best Papa ever to his 11 grandchildren who have wonderful memories of Papa at the cabin in Point Roberts and his love for ice cream. Fred taught ten years in Oliver then in 1967 he moved to Tsawwassen Junior Secondary as a teacher and then counsellor. In 1977 Fred transferred to open the new Seaquam Secondary School in North Delta where he worked until 1988. Fred very much enjoyed the staff and his ability to help the children. He retired due to a progressive, profound hearing loss. In retirement Fred advocated for the hard of hearing by being a proud member and president of both the Western Institute for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing and the Canadian Hard of Hearing Association. He enjoyed curling, the companionship of his dog Buddy, and morning coffee with friends at McDonalds. Fred was an active member of the Oliver Kinsmen Club as well as a committed coach for several minor athletic teams including hockey, softball and soccer.
A memorial service for Fred will be held at Saint David's Anglican Church in Tsawwassen on Saturday, November 24th at 1 pm. In lieu of flowers please send donations to the Irene Thomas Hospice, The Canadian Hard of Hearing Association, or the Western Institute for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing.
He touched many peoples lives.
