It's with deep sadness that we must announce the sudden passing of our loving mother & grandmother Doreen June Burniston on July 5, 2012, at age 86. June is survived by her sons Brad (Cathy) & Mark, her daughter Laura Warren (Dan), her grandchildren: Jamie, Ian (Stephanie) & Lisa Nyland, and her sister Phyllis Spilsted. She was predeceased by her husband Robert Frank Burniston in 2001.
June was born in Vancouver on June 2, 1926. She married Bob, from a long time North Vancouver family, in 1946. They raised their family on the North Shore before retiring to Courtenay and then Abbotsford. June returned to West Vancouver in 2009 where she remained active and busy, both in her home and in the community, and especially enjoyed being close to her family and long time friends.
By June's request, there will be no service. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Lions Gate Hospital Foundation.
