MOUNT AIRY — Mr. Grover Cleveland Davis, 76, of 463 White Pines Country Club Road, Mount Airy, passed away Saturday, Dec. 7, 2013. Mr. Davis was born Jan. 19, 1937, in Surry County, the son of the late Wiley and Mamie Lamb Davis. Grover owned and operated Grover Davis Landscaping for many years. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Peggy Ratcliff Davis of the home; two daughters and sons-in-law, Sandra and Tommy Halstead, and Trena and David Schumaker, all of Mount Airy; five sons and two daughters-in-law, Kenneth Davis of Morganton, Calvin and Tina Davis of Ararat, Va., Ricky Davis of Tabor City, and Michael and Terry Davis and Jeffery Davis, all of Mount Airy; 11 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; a sister, Mamie Dollyhigh of Kernersville; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Mr. Davis was preceded in death by a grandson, J.R. Davis; seven brothers, Walter Davis, Roy Davis, Fred Davis, Rob Davis, J.C. Davis, Pete Davis, and Howard Davis; a half-brother, Oscar Davis; and two infant siblings. The funeral service will be held Tuesday, Dec. 10, 2013, at 2:30 p.m. at Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Mount Airy with the Rev. Wayne Davis and Dr. Bobby Lewis Jr. officiating. Burial will follow at Skyline Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 1 until 2:30 p.m. at the funeral home. Online condolences may be made at www.moodyfuneralservices.com.
