DOBSON — Miss Betty Lou Doss, 87, of Dobson, passed away at Twelve Oaks Rest Home in Mount Airy on Wednesday Feb. 5, 2014. She was born in Surry County on Oct. 17, 1926, to the late Julius Hardin and Ada Coe Doss. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by three sisters, Irene Culler, Mary Jo Doss, and Virginia Dare Doss; four brothers, Hugh, Wade, Paul and Wilbur Doss; one nephew, Donald Culler. Betty was a member of Stony Knoll United Methodist Church and she loved to sing "Jesus Loves Me" with the church choir. Surviving are five nieces, Linda Allen, of Myrtle Beach, S.C., Deborah Snow of Dobson, Janet Singletary of Fayetteville, Rebecca Norman of Hamptonville, and Jill Raines of Lexington; four nephews, Robert Culler of Pinnacle, Roy Culler of Pilot Mountain, Bill Doss of Winston-Salem, and Tommy Doss of Mount Airy. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 8, 2014, at Stony Knoll United Methodist Church with burial to follow in the church cemetery. The Rev. Jimmy Lawton will conduct the services. The family will receive friends at Stony Knoll United Methodist Church on Saturday, Feb. 8, 2014, from 10 a.m. until time of her service at 11 a.m. Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to the Stony Knoll United Methodist Church Building Fund, c/o Dorothy McCormick, 1095 Stony Knoll Road, Dobson, NC 27017.
