Mr. Buddy Wade Culler, 69, of 158 Circle View Road, in Mount Airy, passed away Tuesday, Oct. 22, 2013, at the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home. He was born Oct. 7, 1944, in Patrick County, Va., to the late Grant and Madie King Culler. Mr. Culler was a veteran of the U.S. Army having served during the Vietnam War. He was a self-employed heavy equipment operator and was a member of Holly Springs Baptist Church. Surviving are his wife, Libby Faye Allen Culler of the home; a daughter, Shannon Sanders of Dobson, three sons and daughters-in-law, Greg Slate and Robin of Mount Airy, Ricky Culler and Lorie of King, and Chris Culler and Dee Dee of Winston-Salem; 10 grandchildren, Heaven Clark, Nathan Culler, Matthew Culler, Justin Smith, Kristen Culler, Jordan Smith, Joseph Slate, Lindsey Culler, Stephen Sanders and Luke Slate; three great-grandchildren, Lukas Culler, Torin Culler, and Olivia Smith; as well as a grandson, named Wade, that will soon be born; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Dorothy Schaab of Dobson, Betty and George Johnson of Mount Airy; and a brother and sister-in-laws, Ray and Betty Culler of Pilot Mountain, and Nerina Culler of Ararat, Va. In addition to his parents, Mr. Culler was preceded in death by a sister, Georgia Johnson, and a brother, Bobby Culler. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 25, 2013, at Holly Springs Baptist Church where he will lie in state 30 minutes prior to the service. The service will be conducted by the Rev. Wayburn Mosley. Burial will follow in the Church Cemetery. Full military rites will be held at the graveside by the VFW Memorial Honor Guard Post 2019 Mount Airy and Post 9436 Pilot Mountain. The family will receive friends between 6 and 8 p.m. on Thursday at Moody Funeral Home.
