DEBRA SAWYERS

ARARAT — On Tuesday, Oct. 15, 2013, Mrs. Debra Kirkman Sawyers entered the Portals of Heaven to forever be with her Lord and Savior. She was born in Surry County on May 3, 1954, to Beatrice Chaney Kirkman and the late Frank Kirkman. Mrs. Sawyers was employed by Northern Hospital of Surry County as a certified nurses assistant and a faithful member of Pilot Mountain Community Church. She lived her life in service for the Lord and the family she dearly cherished. She is survived by her loving husband of 30 years, Pastor Gary Sawyers, of the home; her beloved son and daughter-in-law, Coty Frank and Beverly Sawyers, of Ararat; four sisters, Vernice Johnson of Raleigh, Evelyn and husband, Paul Secrest, of Copeland, Glenda and husband, Ronnie Mears, of Mount Airy, and Judy Kirkman of Ventura, Calif.; and a brother and sister-in-law, Roger and Nellie Kirkman of Mount Airy. Her funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 18, 2013, in the chapel of Moody-Davis Funeral Home by Lee Freeman and the Rev. Steve Johnson with burial to follow in New Beginnings Baptist Church cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday, Oct. 17, 2013, from 6 to 8 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to Debra Sawyers, Funeral Fund, c/o Moody-Davis Funeral Home, P.O. Box 295, Dobson, NC 27017 to assist with final expenses, or to Pilot Mountain Community Church, 146 Stone Valley Road, Pilot Mountain, NC 27041.
