INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. — Dolphin A. "Joe" Jarvis, 90, of Indianapolis, passed away Oct. 10, 2013. He was born Aug. 12, 1923, in Surry County, N.C., to the late Martin Tabor and Ida Victoria Moore Jarvis. Joe served his country in the U.S. Army Air Corps during WWII, and married Gertrude Anna Neenan. He was employed with Citizen's Gas & Coke Utility for 38 years, retiring in 1984. Joe was a longtime member of Holy Spirit Catholic Church. He was a member of American Legion Post #3 Broad Ripple, and the senior men's bowling leagues at both Hindel and All-Star Bowl. Visitation will be held Sunday, Oct. 13, 2013, from 2 until 6 p.m. at Shirley Brothers Washington Memorial Chapel, 9606 E. Washington St. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday at 10 a.m. at Holy Spirit Catholic Church, 7243 E. 10th St. Joe is survived by his loving wife, Gertrude Jarvis; sons, David A., Frank H. (Helen) and Philip M. Jarvis; seven grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Memorial contributions may be made to Holy Spirit Catholic Church and/or St. Jude's Children's Hospital.
