E. Kathleen Hawks

LAMBSBURG, Va. — Mrs. E. Kathleen Ward Hawks, 84 of Lambsburg, passed away Monday, July 29, 2013, at the Woltz Hospice Home. Kathleen was an amazing woman who touched the hearts of everyone who knew her. She was born in Carroll County on Aug. 8, 1928, to the late Bert C. and Della Bobbitt Ward. She was a homemaker and a member of Lambsburg Missionary Baptist Church. Surviving are her husband, Charles Hawks of the home; two daughters and son-in-law, Terri and Tom Lang of Virginia Beach and Jill Hunter of Lambsburg; one son, Chuck Hawks of Lambsburg; seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; three sisters and brother-in-law, Dorothy Taylor and Alice Mae Ward, both of Lambsburg, and Bernell and Raymond Holder of Mount Airy; and a half sister, Lena Minor of Mocksville, N.C. In addition to her parents, Kathleen was preceded in death by a daughter, Jenny Hawks; and one brother, Ralph Ward. Funeral services will be held Friday, Aug. 2, 2013, at 2 p.m. at the Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Mount Airy with services conducted by the Rev. Verlon Combs and the Rev. Israel Easter with burial to follow in the Chestnut Grove Primitive Baptist Church cemetery. The family will receive friends Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Moody Funeral Home in Mount Airy.
