EBBIE PHILLIPS

PILOT MOUNTAIN — Ebbie L. Phillips of Pilot Mountain passed away Thursday, Nov. 7, 2013. He was born in Surry County on July 18, 1925, to the late William Idol Phillips and Addie Cain Phillips. Surviving to cherish his memory are children, his daughter and son-in-law, Sandra P. (Charles) Reynolds, and his son, Steve (Dianne) Phillips; three grandchildren, Sara R. (Adam) Smith, Jacob "Jake" (Andrea) Phillips and Ashley (Jordan) Beam; two great-grandchildren, Olivia Garren and Grace Smith; two sisters, Eloise P. Wall and Peggy P. Lawrence; and three brothers, James Phillips, Lonnie Phillips and Paul Phillips. Ebbie was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Mae Lawson Phillips; his parents; one sister, Essie P. Norman; and four brothers, Sanford Phillips, Troy Phillips, Harvey R. Phillips and Grover Phillips. He was retired from NC DOT and was a World War II veteran. Graveside services will be at Whitaker's Chapel United Methodist cemetery on Sunday, Nov. 10, 2013, at 3:30 p.m. with the Rev. Joseph M. Fulk III officiating. The family will receive friends at Cox-Needham Funeral Home from 2 to 3 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 10, 2013. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Whitaker's Chapel UMC Cemetery Fund, c/o Spencer Flinchum, 654 Whitaker Chapel Road, Pilot Mountain, NC 27041.
