WINSTON-SALEM — Mary Jane Hauser, 95, passed away peacefully, Sept. 23, 2013, at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home surrounded by her family. She was born Nov. 10, 1917, to Marion Foster and Mary Leila Hardy Snow in Siloam. She had a passion for children and education and taught school at Old Town, Kimberly Park, and Sherwood Forest Schools until she retired in 1982. She loved to travel and her family and friends were never surprised to learn that she was on her way to Kure Beach where she loved to spend time. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas F. Hauser; her brother, Paul Snow; and a loving granddaughter, Megan Hauser. She is survived by two sons and two loving daughters-in-law, Thomas F. Hauser Jr. (Mary Ruth) of Pilot Mountain and Gary S. Hauser (Ginger) of Winston-Salem; three granddaughters, Beth Hauser Johnson (David) of Raleigh, Deborah Hauser Flippin (Alan) of Westfield and Jennifer Hauser Meyers (Danny) of Lake Norman; three great-grandchildren, Christy and Ryan Johnson, and Graham Meyers; and a host of family and friends who were always considered part of the family. Mary Jane was a devoted member of Ardmore Moravian Church in Winston-Salem. The funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday at Salem Funeral & Cremation, Main St. Chapel, with burial to follow at Forsyth Memorial Park with the Rev. Jon Boling officiating. The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m. prior to the service. The family would like to sincerely thank all of the caregivers at Brighton Gardens, Brookridge Retirement Community, Hospice and Palliative Care that cared for her over the last few months and always will be remembered so fondly for the compassion shared.
