WESTFIELD — James Washington Arrington, age 94, of Westfield, NC, passed away Monday, August 4, 2014 at Twelve Oaks Nursing Home. He was born in Guilford County, on July 3, 1920, to the late Hurley Lee Arrington and Bessie Mae Hiatt Arrington. He was a WWII Army Infantry veteran and proud to have served his country. James is survived by a sister, Rena A. Reynolds; a brother, Jimmy (Bobby) Arrington; a son-in-law, Tommy Spencer; and two grandchildren, Christopher Spencer and Stephanie Spencer. He was preceded in death by his parents; two wives, Myrtle Craven Arrington and Frances Arrington; a daughter, Carol A. Spencer; three sisters, Mary Lee Smith (Gordon), Wilma Thompson (Glenn) and Gladys A. Tudor (Dale); one brother, Clayton "Duck" Arrington (Polly); and special lady, Esther Lowe. Graveside services will be at Asbury Pentecostal Church on Saturday, August 9, 2014 at 11:00 A.M. with Rev. Ricky Rogers officiating. Interment will be in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at Cox-Needham Funeral Home on Friday, August 8, 2014 from 7:00 P.M. to 9:00 P.M. James lived his life as a free spirit and lived it fully.
