BURLINGTON — Bennie Sue Doggett Farmer, 79, of Burlington died on Saturday, Jan. 25, 2014, at Twin Lakes Health Care Center. She was born in Charlotte to the late Felix Gladstone and Allene Emily Loy Doggett and was married to the late Rev. Ben Davis Farmer Jr. She attended Mary Washington College and graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She was a member of Delta Phi Alpha and earned a bachelor's degree in German. Sue retired from Lucent Technologies after 34 years and was a member of Andrews Memorial Baptist Church. She is survived by her daughter, Angela Cordero Oertel, and her husband, Geoffrey Kenneth Oertel, of Elon; grandchildren, Heather Renee Valdez and her husband, Jason, of Graham, and Stephen Kyle O'Shields of Mebane; sister, Sarah Doggett Folckomer of Burlington; sisters-in-law, Lois Ann Farmer of Burlington, and Ilene Farmer of South Dakota; and a brother-in-law, Robert Farmer of South Dakota. The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Foley Chapel at Twin Lakes by Father Mark Menees with entombment to follow at Alamance Memorial Park Mausoleum. The family will have a visitation with reception from 6 to 8 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 27, 2013, at Lowe Funeral Home and Crematory and other times at her daughter's residence at 1014 Mill Pointe Way in Elon.
