MOUNT AIRY — Emma Ruth Clark Jenkins passed away peacefully early on Friday, Sept. 13, 2013, at Twelve Oaks Retirement Village in Mount Airy. She was born on July 21, 1924, to the late Chester and Viola Clark. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband of 64 years, Edward Jenkins; one son, James Moody of New York; one brother, David Clark of Roanoke Rapids; four half-brothers, J.T. Clark, Mayo Clark, Sam Clark, and Luther Clark all of Roanoke Rapids; and one half-sister, Annie Bell Wilder of Roanoke Rapids. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Brenda and Ivan Utt of Cana, Va.; and her two sons and daughters-in-law, Ed and Gloria Jenkins of Winchester, Va., and Jerry and Hazel Moody of Seaboard; her grandchildren, Belinda Pike of Winston Salem, Ashley Jenkins of Cleveland, Ohio, David Jenkins of Washington, D.C., and Dianne Moody of New York; and four great-grandchildren. Family will receive friends at Moody Funeral Home on Sunday, Sept. 15 from 3 to 4 p.m. A family graveside service will immediately follow at Solid Rock Baptist Church cemetery at 4 p.m. with the Chaplain Kevin Wilson presiding.
