DOBSON — Mrs. Fannie Irene Cox Nations, wife of the Rev. J.R. Nations Jr., of Dobson, passed away Friday, Jan. 31, 2014, at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center. She was born June 26, 1926, to the late John Ed Cox and Lou Izze Elizabeth Heath Cox. Mrs. Nations retired from Proctor-Silex after 25 years of service. She is survived by her beloved husband, Rev. J.R. Nations Jr. of the home; one son, Eddie Wayne Nations and wife, Diane Gatewood Nations, of King; two daughters, Gladys Faye Nations and partner, Eugene Lawson, of Mount Airy and Joy Lynne Nations Bowman and husband, Clifford W. Bowman, of Pilot Mountain; five grandchildren; three stepgrandchildren; two great-grandchildren; three stepgreat-grandchildren; a brother-in-law, Albert Draughn of Supply; numerous nieces and nephews; and special friends, Roena Goins of Mount Airy, Lois Gammons of Mount Airy and Nancy White Potter of Dobson. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Nations was preceded in death by one son, Michael Ray Nations; one great-grandson, Saxon Nations; four sisters, Betty Cox, Mallie Cox Venable, Lillie Cox Redmon and Gertrude Cox Draughn; and five brothers, Harvey, Earnest, Roy, Rufus and Willie Cox. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 3, 2014, at Moody Funeral Home in Mount Airy and at other times at the home of Joy and Clifford Bowman of Pilot Mountain. Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 4, 2014, at Whitaker's Chapel Methodist Church, Whitaker's Chapel Church Road, Pilot Mountain, with Brother Don Collins, the Rev. Timothy Burton and the Rev. Danny Poindexter officiating. She will lie in state 30 minutes prior to the service. The children of Mrs. Nations will also share heartfelt comments and reflections. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Flowers will be accepted, or memorials may be made to the Whitaker's Chapel Methodist Church, Cemetery Fund, c/o Spencer Flinchum; or the Salvation Army of Mount Airy.
