Jessica Stanley Obituary

Jessica Rachel Caroline Stanley was born on Jan. 1, 1988, in Brindisi, Italy. She was dearly loved by her family. She is survived by her mother, Wendy Odum, and father, Steven Odum; her children, Malikae Hylton (14), Alexander Hylton (13), Jasmine Hylton (10) and Savannah Watson (7); one sister, Jordan Taylor; and two brothers, Elijah and Andrew Odum; along with her grandparents, Richard and Elizabeth Nunn; a special aunt, Kim Martin; cousin Morgan Puckett and her one true childhood friend Brandie Sawyers Dalton. She was preceded in death by her Grammy Barbara Holdaway and her Granny Eula Hylton, who greeted her Spirit in joy. There aren't enough words and pages to describe who Jessica was. She loved music, poetry, nature. She was brilliant and sensitive, an old soul. She hid that deep sensitivity with a tough image. All Jessica ever truly wanted was to feel safe, whole, and loved. She struggled with mental illness and addiction for many years. Her illnesses never overshadowed her heart, love, brilliance, and fierce loyalty. She fought. Now she is free. The family will be holding a private gathering to honor Jessica. We ask in lieu of flowers, donations be made to Phoenix Rising in Winston-Salem.
