MOUNT AIRY — Mrs. Kathryn Otelia Collins Gates Capps, 82, of Mount Airy, passed away at Central Continuing Care in Mount Airy on Friday, Aug. 2, 2013. She was born in Stokes County on April 1, 1931, to the late Walter Lee and Ruth Erna Collins. Mrs. Capps was a wonderful mother, grandmother and friend to everyone who knew her. She was a devoted Christian and loved the Lord with all her heart. Mrs. Capps retired from Lynne Hosiery and was a member of Flat Rock Pentecostal Holiness Church. Left to cherish her memories are her husband, Joseph "Cecil" Capps of the home; two daughters and sons-in-law, Rita Stanley and husband, Quinton "Junior," of Ararat, Va., and Lori Puckett and husband, Randy, of Mount Airy; granddaughter, Amanda Anderson and husband, Mike, of Pinnacle; great-grandsons, Walker Bowman and Brady Anderson; two stepdaughters, Mildred McBride and husband, Edgar, of Pilot Mountain, and Debbie Bowman and husband, Blaine, of Mount Airy; several stepgrandchildren; a brother and sister-in-law, Tommy Collins and wife, Dot, of King; and several special nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Capps was preceded in death by her first husband, Jack Warren Gates; and several sisters and brothers. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 4, 2013, at Flat Rock Pentecostal Holiness Church with Dr. David Sparks officiating. The family will receive friends at Moody Funeral Home in Mount Airy on Saturday, Aug. 3, 2013, from 6 to 8 p.m., where the body will remain until the time to be taken to the church to lie in state 30 minutes prior to the service.
