WINSTON-SALEM — Mrs. Louella Creasy Poteat Hiatt Day, 86, of Winston-Salem, passed away Friday, September 5, 2018, at Forsyth Medical Center in Winston-Salem. A Surry County native, Mrs. Day is the daughter of the late Martin Andrew and Elva Kirkman Poteat. She was employed as a seamstress at Salem Company/Lucia. Mrs. Day was passionately dedicated to her faith, family, and friends. She had read through the Bible many times and was a very giving person, financially supporting many ministries and venues. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Day is predeceased by husbands Herman G. Hiatt, Sr. and Albert T. Day, stepson Albert Day, Jr., sister Della Rosetta Poteat Noah, and brothers Tollie Henry Poteat and Claude Shelton Poteat. She is survived by three children Cynthia Hiatt McGee of Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania, Herman G. Hiatt, Jr. of Booneville, and Billy D. Hiatt of Winston-Salem, four grandchildren Jennifer McGee Gibb (Jeff), Tamara McGee Conde (Ricky), Malisa McGee McCurdy (Ben), and Herman G. " Trip" Hiatt III , stepchildren Eddie Day (Sandy) and Debra (Billy) Williams, step-grandchildren Emily (Jeff) Eckard, Franklin and Sarah Williams, and Blake, Caroline, and A.J. III Day, twelve great-grandchildren, seven step-great grandchildren, sister Nannie Belle Poteat Ward of Mount Airy, and numerous nieces and nephews. A graveside service honoring Mrs. Day will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, September 8, 2018, at Skyline Memory Gardens in Mount Airy. In honor of Mrs. Day's selfless giving, the family requests that, in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to the .
