MOUNT AIRY — Mr. Mitchell Thomas Holder, 48, of Travelers Rest, S.C., formerly of Mount Airy, passed away suddenly at his home on Friday, Oct. 18, 2013. He was born on Sept. 20, 1965, to Carole Leftwich Holder and the late Paul Thomas Holder. He was an artist and a former brick mason. Mitchell and Kay attended New Spring Church. In addition to his mother, Mitchell is survived by his wife, Kay Hickey Holder; daughters, Carissa and Carrie Holder and their mother, Amy Holder; stepdaughter, Kayla Nguyen; stepson, Chad Nguyen; sister and brother-in-law, Lisa and Terry Hawks; brother, Paul Trent Holder and friend, Debbie Angel; grandmother, Agnes L. Shelton; mother-in-law, Inez Hickey; brother-in-law, Scott Hickey and his wife, Kim; nieces and nephews, Emily Vaughn, Matthew Hawks, Caleb and Nathan Holder, and a special nephew, Dreyden Hickey; and great-nephews, Hunter Ward and Colton Vaughn. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 23, 2013, at Shelton Church of the Brethren with the Rev. Grover Holder, the Rev. Ted Turner, and the Rev. Marvin Wade officiating. Burial will follow at Skyline Memory Gardens.
