MOUNT AIRY — Miss Nancy Eloise Gammons, 85, of 372 Mt. Herman Church Road, Mount Airy, passed away Thursday, Nov. 21, 2013, at Central Continuing Care. She was born Dec. 31, 1927, in Surry County to the late Willie and Atheline Hiatt Gammons. She was a farmer and homemaker. Miss Gammons was a lifelong member of Mt. Herman United Methodist Church. Surviving is a special niece and husband, Clara Horton and Mark, of Galax, Va.; a special nephew and wife, Willie Gammons and Amanda of Mount Airy; two sisters-in-laws, Beulah Mae Gammons of Winston-Salem, and Virginia Gammons of Mount Airy; and a special great-niece, Katelyn Gammons of Mount Airy; and a special great-nephew, David Gammons of Mount Airy; several other nieces and nephews; and several great-nieces and great-nephews. In addition to her parents, Miss Gammons was preceded in death by four sisters, Ulden Gammons, Thelma Gough, Woodie Jessup, and Vera Smith; and five brothers, Madison Gammons, Ivan Gammons, Wilford Gammons, Gilmer Gammons and Thaxter Gammons. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 23, 2013, at Moody Funeral Home Chapel. The service will be conducted by the Rev. Rickey Spencer, the Rev. Lynn Jordan, and the Rev. Jackie Danley. Burial will follow in the Mt. Herman United Methodist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at 10 a.m. Saturday until time of the service at Moody Funeral Home. Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to the Mt. Herman United Methodist Church, c/o Sheila Martin, 180 Clear View Trail, Mount Airy, NC 27030.
