MOUNT AIRY — Mr. Weldon Darrell Farmer, 76, of Mount Airy, passed away Tuesday, Sept. 17, 2013, at Forsyth Medical Center in Winston-Salem. He was born in Wythe County, Va., on April 8, 1937, to the late Kenneth and Lona Graybeal Farmer. Mr. Farmer was retired from Coy George Construction. He is survived by five daughters and son-in-law, Krystal Farmer and Kevin Wagner, Sharon Farmer, Tammy and Kelly Goad, Shirley Farmer and Jeff Whitaker, all of Mount Airy, and Paula Farmer and Michael Kitchin of Flagler Beach, Fla.; the mother of his children, Anne Scott of Mount Airy; nine grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; a sister, Louise Walley of Richton, Miss.; and three brothers and sisters-in-law, J.C Farmer, R.C. and Judy Farmer, William and Shiela Farmer and Mike Jones, all of Kingsport, Tenn. In addition to his parents, Mr. Farmer was preceded in death by a sister, Mayble Archer; and a brother, Dean Farmer. Funeral services will be held Friday, Sept. 20, 2013, at 3 p.m. at Moody Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Jimmy Slate officiating. Burial will follow in The Peoples Church cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday from 1:30 p.m. until time for the service at Moody Funeral Home in Mount Airy.
