DOBSON — Mr. Thomas Benjamin Shinault, 86, of Dobson, passed away Wednesday, July 17, 2013, at Northern Hospital of Surry County. He was born in Surry County on March 23, 1927, to the late Ben and Vader Poindexter Shinault. Mr. Shinault was a retired farmer and was a member of Rock Hill Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon. He served our country in the U.S. Marines during WWII. He is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Bryan and Angela Shinault of Dobson; a grandson, Joseph Shinault of Dobson; two sisters, Alene Shinault and Gloria Thornes, both of Ararat; four brothers and sisters-in-law, Wayne and Beulah Shinault and James and Jackie Shinault, all of Mount Airy, Bobby and Alma Shinault of Thurmond, Wilbur and Janet Shinault and Katherine Shinault, all of Dobson; a brother-in-law, Vernon Turner of Hamptonville; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Mr. Shinault was preceded in death by his wife, June Carol Adams Shinault; two sisters, Frankie Turner and Gladys Hawks; and a brother, Wilson Odell Shinault. Funeral services will be held Saturday, July 20, 2013, at 11 a.m. at Rock Hill Baptist Church with the Rev. Lee Johnson officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
