Mary Ann (Yunker) Shears, 91, of Evansville, passed away at 12:35 a.m., Tuesday, Jan. 8 at Deaconess Gateway Hospital.
Mary was born Nov. 7, 1921 in Mt. Vernon, Indiana the daughter of Frank, Sr. and Emma (Oliver) Yunker. She was a graduate of Bosse High School and attended Evansville College, currently U of E and Lockyear Business College. Mary was a charter member of St. John's East United Church of Christ, at one time serving on man y of the church's committees. She was co-owner of the former Greek-Shears Funeral Home with her late husband of 51 years, Robert I. Shears.
She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers, Oliver H. Yunker and Frank P. Yunker, Jr., and husbands, Gilbert G. Fallen in 1942 and Robert I. Shears in 1999.
Mary is survived by a daughter, Suzanne E. Rust (David) of Chandler, Ind.; a son, William E. Shears (Pamela) of Franklin, Tenn.; a sister, Betty J. Zengler of Evansville; grandchildren, Tiffany B. Giefer of Evergreen, Colo., Darby A. Shears of Nashville, Tenn., Mason N. Leaf of Cookeville, Tenn., Nicholas G. Leaf of Evansville and Daniel B. Rust of Chandler, Ind.; great-grandchildren, Harrison Noel Leaf of Cookeville, Tenn., Nicholas Giefer and Noah Giefer of Evergreen, Colo., and Anna Claire Leaf and Abigail Elizabeth Leaf, both of Tennessee; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at noon, Thursday, Jan. 10, at Boone Funeral Home East Chapel - 5330 Washington Avenue, Evansville with Minister Mason Leaf officiating. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery.
Friends may call from 11 am until time of service at noon, Thursday at Boone Funeral Home - East Chapel.
