CARROLLTON, Ky.-Gary L. Ford, 64, of Carrollton, died Friday evening, Dec. 13, 2013, in Louisville, Ky.
He was born on May 31, 1949, in Carroll County, Ky, the son of the late Stanley Lindsay Ford and Helen Esther House Ford. He was a 1967 graduate of Carroll County High School, and he later attended the University of Louisville. He worked early in his life at the Parkview I.G.A. grocery store in Carrollton and retired from the Dow Corning Chemical Company in Carrollton from the maintenance dept. He also worked at Toole and Rose Supply in Carrollton as a delivery driver.
He was a member of the Carrollton Christian Church where he also served as a deacon. He was a member of the Carrollton Masonic Lodge No. 134 F and AM. He was in the Sons of the American Legion Post No. 41 in Carrollton. Gary was very involved with the Community Food Pantry in Carrollton, and he was also active with Project Comfort in Carrollton. Gary had been on many mission trips over the years, traveling all over the world.
He is survived by a niece, Brandy Douglas of Madison, Ind., five great nieces, Shelby and Shalee Owen, Lindsay Douglas, Amber Douglas and Kyleen Douglas, all of Madison, Ind.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Marsha D. Ford - Konkle on Dec. 19, 2010.
A Celebration Of Hope and Life Service will be held at 5 p.m., Sunday, Dec. 22, 2013, at the Carrollton Christian Church, 310 Fifth Street in Carrollton with the Rev. Melvin LeCompte officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be given to the Carrollton Christian Church, St. John Food Pantry, Hosparus, or Kosair Children's Hospital. Envelopes may be mailed to the Tandy-Eckler-Riley Funeral Home at 809 Highland Ave., Carrollton, KY 41008.
