HANOVER, Ind.-Samantha Nicole "Sami" Mowery-Griffin, 22, of Hanover, was born June 29, 1991, in Madison, Ind. She was the loving daughter of James Edward and Theresa Lynn Asher Griffin and Timothy James Mowery. She was raised in Hanover and was a 2010 graduate of Southwestern High School.
Sami was employed as a security guard with American Securities at Arvin Sango. She attended the Sulphur Baptist Church and enjoyed being with her son, Mason. She made crafts, enjoyed sewing, gardening, flowers, her yard, camping and being with her family. She was engaged to Fabian Fitzgerald of Worthville. Samantha died on Tuesday, June 24, 2014, at 4:10 p.m. in a car accident on Hwy. 355 North in Owenton, Ky.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, July 1, by Pastor Michael Fitzgerald at the Morgan and Nay Funeral Centre, 325 Demaree Drive in Madison. Interment followed in the Springdale Cemetery, 600 West Fifth Street in downtown Madison.
Survivors include her parents, James Edward and Theresa Lynn Asher Griffin of Hanover, Indiana; her biological father, Timothy James Mowery of Tulsa, Okla.; her fiancée, Fabian Fitzgerald of Worthville, Ky.; her son, Mason James Fitzgerald of Worthville; her maternal grandmother, Jacque N. Asher of North Vernon, Ind.; her paternal grandfather, Nick Mowery of Tennessee; her brothers, Brad Mowery of Grand Junction, Colo., Nathaniel Griffin of Hanover, Ind.; her sister, Brooke Griffin of Hanover; her step brother, Mark Griffin and his wife, Cybil of Florence, Ky.; her step sister, LeeAnn Imel and her husband, Jason of Madison; her aunts and uncles, Dorothy Clark and her husband, John of North Vernon, Ind., Nora Binney and Steph, Anthony Asher of Caldwell, Texas, Sue Bear and her husband, Mike of Vevay, Ind., Ann Mowery of Toledo, Ohio; several nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives. She was preceded in death by her maternal grandfather, Durham Asher, died April 23, 2013, and her niece, Alesana Mowery.
