GREEN RIVER, Wyo.-William Harold Maines, 82, of Green River died Friday, Feb. 28, 2014, at his daughter's home in Arlington, Wash.

Funeral services were held Thursday, March 6, at the Union Congregational Church in Green River. Military honors and interment were in the Riverview Cemetery.
He was born Sept. 12, 1931, in Ghent, Ky. He joined the U.S. Air Force in 1947, and was assigned as a survival equipment specialist and parachute rigger to the 830th Bombardment Squadron in Roswell, N.M. He was honorably discharged as a staff sergeant in 1953 after earning the National Defense Service Medal and Good Conduct Medal. He married Canellia "Corny" Ellen Rawdon on Dec. 1. 1951.
His interests included crafting wood furniture and cabinetry for friends and family in his garage on Clark Street in Green River and teaching his grandchildren and great-grandchildren how to make things with their hands and work with wood.
He is survived by his three daughters, Marilyn Thomas of Green River, Linda (Shane) Hott of Cheyenne and Melanie (John) Blowers of Arlington, Wash; daughter in-law, Teddy Maines of Green River; twin brother, Carroll "GG" Maines of Ghent; 10 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife; his son, William Harold "Buddy" Maines Jr.; mother, Alma Doris Chaney; and son-in-law Reese Thomas. Condolences may be left at www.vasefuneralhomes.com.
