CARROLLTON, Ky.-George Earl Abbott, 74, of Carrollton died Wednesday, Feb. 27, 2013, at the Kindred Hospital in Louisville, Ky.

Funeral services were Saturday, March 2, at Tandy-Eckler-Riley Funeral Home, 809 Highland Ave. in Carrollton, with the Rev. Kavungal Davy officiating. Cremation followed the service, with burial of the ashes to take place at a later date.
Mr. Abbott was born Jan. 12, 1939, in New Castle, Henry County, Ky., the son of the late John Shelton Abbott and Iva Lee Peyton Abbott.
He was a farmer and owned and operated Auto and Farm Equipment Repair in Prestonville for 10 years. He had previously been a machinist for 25 years with Armor Elevator, Murphy Elevator and Lerko Manufactoring Company. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Louise Thomas Abbott; four daughters, Sheila (Bill) Reynolds, Sandy Abbott, Kathy (Julian) Mitchell and Karen (Paul) Wyman, all of Carrollton; a son, Steve (Gwen) Abbott, also of Carrollton; a sister, Mary Abbott of Louisville, Ky.; a brother, Gilbert S. Abbott of Shelbyville, Ky.; and nine grandchildren, Justin (Rachel) Mitchell, Jennifer Mitchell, Nicholas Abbott, Natalie Abbott, Neil Abbott, Scott Abbott, Aaron Wyman, Blake Reynolds and Kaden Reynolds.
He was preceded in death by his father; his mother, Iva Lee Frazier; a grandson, Parker Aaron Wyman; and two sisters, Viola Frazier and Maudye Coleman.
