George G. Lyon

AGE: 81 • Middlesex

George G. Lyon, 81, passed away peacefully Saturday, March 31, 2012 at Somerset Medical Center. Born in Orange, NJ to the late Raymond, Jr. and Alice Lyon, he grew up in Milburn before moving to Middlesex in 1958. George served proudly with the U.S. Navy Reserves. He began his career as a field service representative for Peterbuilt Motor Co. of King of Prussia, PA and later with Dave's Heavy Towing of Hillsborough for 15 years before retiring in 1996. He was a member of the Saxton Fall Rod & Gun Club, the Wildlife Federation and enjoyed wood-working and stock car racing. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather who will be sadly missed.

He was predeceased by a brother, Raymond C. Lyon and a sister, Jane Dunster. Surviving are his beloved wife of 60 years, Ruth Broholm Lyon; his loving children, Linda Rotondo and husband Bob of Milford, Dale Lyon and wife Cindy of Somerville, Glenn Lyon of Bloomsbury, Sally Madison and husband Jon of Massachussetts, and Tina Giuliano and husband Keith of Middlesex; sixteen cherished grandchildren, eight cherished great-grandchildren; his dearest brother, William Lyon and wife Debbie of North Carolina and his two golden retrievers.

A memorial service will be held 2pm, Saturday, April 7, 2012 at the North Branch Reformed Church, 203 Rt. 28 West, Bridgewater, NJ 08807. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in his name to a charity of choice. Online condolences may be sent by visiting www.middlesexfuneralhome.com. I new George primarily through his visits to the Peterbilt Plant in Nashville and telephone conversations but I feel like I've lost a good friend. To his family, I am so sorry for your loss. May he rest in peace.
