Louis "Tex Louis" Gotsis
AGE: 74 • Forked River
Louis ("Tex Louis") Gotsis, age 74, of Forked River, New Jersey passed away on Friday, November 1, 2013 surrounded by his loving family. Louis was born in Greece, lived in Texas and California before moving to Ocean County in 1969. Louis owned the Cowboy Hall of Fame Saloon, Bayville. He first opened the New Village Family Restaurant in Bayville, New Jersey and erected a 40 foot cowboy on Route 9 to bring a little bit of Texas to the east coast. Combining true western hospitality and pioneer spirit, Louis expanded the family restaurant into a country western saloon, steakhouse, nightclub and liquor store. "Tex Louis" put Bayville, NJ on the map by bringing big musical acts such as Johnny Cash and Willie Nelson to the Cowboy Hall of Fame.
Surviving to cherish his memory are his loving wife, Georgia Gotsis; his two daughters, Maria Gotsis and husband Todd Schebor, and Nicol Gotsis; and his two grandchildren, Sophia and Elias Schebor.
Friends are invited to visit from 2-4 & 7-9 Monday at Layton's Home for Funerals, 250 Lacey Road, Forked River, New Jersey. The Funeral will be held Tuesday at 10 am at the funeral home. Burial will follow at the Good Luck Cemetery in Lanoka Harbor, New Jersey.
To plant trees in memory, please visit the Sympathy Store.

RIP Papa Gotsis. I remember the first time I met you- I was dorm room neighbors with your daughter Nicol. She brought me to visit because it was our first vacation and I didn't have time to fly home. Nicol and I walked into the restaurant and you sat us down, proclaimed that we looked anemic and that we needed steak! BEST STEAK EVER! You will missed and cherished by your family.

Tex Louie was a generous man, a husband, father, grandfather, friend, a visionary, businessman, someone with a ready smile and a quick wit who put everyone at ease in his presence. He was't afraid to try something new. He saw potential where most of us would not. A man of great character and grit, Tex Louie will be sorely missed by all.
With love and affection,
Paul and Dianne Berkowicz
