Robert E. Haney
AGE: 89 • North Brunswick
Robert E. Haney died Friday, December 7, 2012, at his home in North Brunswick. He was 89. Born and raised in Berlin, New Hampshire, he was a resident of North Brunswick for 49 years. Mr. Haney was a pilot in the Army Air Corps, 379th Bomber Group and flew 35 missions over Germany. After the war, he graduated from Norwich University in Vermont where he studied business. He and his wife were among the first buyers of a home in Levittown, Long Island, where he was an avid fisherman. He worked as an accountant for the A&P and for the State of New Jersey. Bob Haney was a communicant of Our Lady of Peace R.C. Church in North Brunswick. In addition to being a voracious reader and patron of the local library, he was a sports enthusiast, holding season tickets to Rutgers Football, while also rooting for the Yankees, NY Giants and NJ Devils. In his retirement, he taught himself to paint, specializing in watercolors.
Surviving are his beloved wife of 67 years, Pauline Haney and his six children; Stephen Haney and his wife Vicky of Indianapolis, IN; Susan Rudman and her husband Michael of Plymouth, MA, Ann Haney and her partner Denis Dermody of Phoenix, AZ, Catherine Meyers and her husband James of North Bend, OH, Martha Steiner and her husband Alan of Franklin Park, NJ and Margaret Haney and her husband James Donohue of New York, NY; eight grandchildren, Sean Rudman and his wife Jaimee, Andrew Rudman and his wife Punam, Jessica Husum and her husband Kurt, Kristen Meyers, Elizabeth Meyers, Maureen Dermody, Jack Donohue and Liam Donohue; three great grandchildren, Lily, Jameson and Uma; a brother, Thomas Haney and his wife Marion; a sister, Anne Evans and her husband Charles, and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be 9:15 a.m. Tuesday at Selover Funeral Home, 555 Georges Road, North Brunswick followed by a 10 a.m. Funeral Mass at Our Lady of Peace RC Church in North Brunswick. Entombment will follow in Holy Cross Burial Park in South Brunswick. Friends and relatives may call at the funeral home Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 Pp.m. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the North Brunswick Public Library, 880 Hermann Road, North Brunswick, NJ, 08902.
